On Saturday 17 August the Arabic Language and Culture Association of South Australia (ALCASA) hosted an evening of excitement with a cultural twist on the traditional quiz night.
Warmly welcomed by the wonderful space at 5EBI Radio, 63 guests on eight tables competed to be the champion quiz masters and congratulations went to team Farfasha!
ALCASA was proud to bring together friends and family for a night filled with fun, laughter and Arabic themed general knowledge questions and games.
The public event was one of many hosted by ALCASA that was designed to promote and celebrate Arabic language, arts and culture and build harmony, cultural awareness, and respect for cultural diversity.
Participants were treated to a surprise music interlude, with the talented Rabih hosting a group sing along. The beautiful voices of a cheery crowd created a warm and joyous atmosphere; we even think we found some budding and talented singers interested in starting a Community Singing Group!
We were also fortunate to have some special guests attend the quiz. The Hon Mira El Dannawi MLC, the first native Arabic speaker to serve in the South Australian Parliament, joined in the festivities and the crowd were honoured to have her join the fun. Also in attendance were Lenard Sciancalepore, CEO and Founder of MOSAIC Adelaide and Nowar Shahrouri, the Chairperson of the Palestinians Community Glimmer of Hope. It was wonderful to strengthen existing connections with the two organisations.
We would like to thank some generous sponsors who donated wonder gifts as prizes for the quiz night. These include:
- Urth Clay Sudio,
- Falafel Station
- Turkish Delight – Mediterranean Sweetery
- REZZ Hotel
- Le Souk Adelaide
- Me&Mr. Jones hair&more
- Tony K Hair
- Sam’s Plaza Pizza Bar
As always, we would like to thank ALCASA members and volunteers for their dedication and commitment to delivering a wonderful experience for all.
