The Arabic Language and Culture Association of SA (ALCASA) are proud to launch the project “Arabic Arts Alive: Strengthening Community Connections Through Film, Music, and Dance”, an ALCASA initiative supported by The City Of Adelaide Council. The project aims to bring our community together through shared cultural experiences. We’re creating warm and welcoming spaces to enjoy Arabic film, music, dance, and storytelling, while inviting participation from artists, businesses, Arabic-speaking groups, and anyone curious about our culture.
On Friday 11 April, we kicked off the project with a vibrant community gathering at 5EBI radio, in partnership with the History Trust of South Australia. With DJ Rania setting the vibe, over 36 of us came together to plan, connect, and celebrate with Dabke dancing and shared food. It was the perfect start to what promises to be an exciting year!
On Saturday 3 May, we are screening the Lebanese movie Arze as part of the South Australian History Festival. Arzé is a film that will move, inspire and connect us all:

About the film:
“Arzé” tells the story of a determined single mother navigating hardship in Beirut. With humour, grit, and resilience, she embarks on a wild ride across the city with her son in search of a stolen scooter – and in doing so, gives us a deeply human glimpse into Lebanon’s complex realities. It’s a comedy-drama that will have you laughing, reflecting – and maybe shedding a tear or two.
This event is more than a movie night. It’s a celebration of culture and connection, featuring a short musical interlude and an opportunity to find out how to take part in upcoming project activities.
We are expecting to fill the cinema with community spirit and help bring Arabic arts to life in South Australia!
